LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Baptist Health Louisville is expanding to help more children in the area.
Tuesday, the hospital on Kresge Way in Louisville, broke ground on a new $5 million renovation and expansion project at its Child Development Center.Â
The project will add 7,200 square feet to the hospital's day care, featuring five classrooms, expanded kitchen, security and a new outdoor playground. This is part one of a two-part expansion project with part one to be completed this December. Part two is expected to be finished in April 2026.
“In this building, first words are spoken, first steps are taken, first friendships are made, and lifelong connections are built," Rebecca Thomas, Director of the Baptist Health Louisville Child Development Center, said in a release. "This expansion will allow us to provide for more children, support more families and, in turn, support the mission of Baptist Health."
The hospital network's Child Development Center, which currently serves more than 100 children, opened in 1982 and expanded in 1990.Â
