LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -Ā A business that started in a garage in California in 1999, continues to thrive in Louisville. CafePress opened its newest headquarters in Middletown Thursday afternoon. CafePress moved its original headquarters from California to southwestern Jefferson County in 2012. Thursday afternoon, company leaders celebrated at their newest headquarters in Middletown on Shelbyville Road.Ā

CafePress is an online retailer offering hundreds of customized products like t-shirts and buttons from its warehouse in Riverport in southwest Louisville. The company says the offices at the factory did not have a corporate headquarters feel. Because of that, about 100 employees working in administration, marketing and web development are moving to the new headquarters in Middletown.

The company added around 30 new positions recently in engineering, marketing and IT. It now employs around 350 people in metro-Louisville.

"Hopefully we can be a beacon in our small success here, can be an example that Louisville, while I believe it really is the food and beverage capital of the country, you can be successful at anything here and hopefully we can be a part of telling that story," said Fred Durham, CafePress CEO.

Around 250 employees work at the company's manufacturing facility at Riverport, with about 500 more seasonal employees joining them during the holidays. 40 employees work from an office in California.

"This is a real commitment to our employees and trying to create a creative space that honors the hard work and creativity of everyone on board, and IĀ think it shows and demonstratesĀ the commitment to the community that we're a part of," said Durham.

The company says the spot in Middletown is near a main bus line,Ā allowing for better recruiting of employees that use public transportation.

The new building also has three shower stalls for employees who bike and walk to work, or workout during the day.
