LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana city is about to have a new pizza joint to check out.
Derby City Pizza will open a location on East 10th Street in Jeffersonville, in the former Pizza Hut spot.
Officials shared the news on the city's Facebook page Wednesday. A "total remodel" on the building is about to begin for the locally-owned restaurant's ninth location.
City leaders said the redevelopment commission provided a $50,000 grant from the Restaurant Forgivable Loan program as an incentive to bring the pizza chain to Jeffersonville.
Mayor Mike Moore touted the loan program and "matching Facade Grant" that have "proven to be a huge success" for the city.
A grand opening date has not yet been set.
Derby City Pizza's first southern Indiana location opened on Daisy Lane, off State Street, in New Albany in October 2023. There are also locations in Louisville's Clifton and Fairdale neighborhoods, UofL's campus, Mt. Washington, Plainview, Pleasure Ridge Park and Valley Station.
