LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Owners of the Krispy Kreme on Bardstown Road filed for a permit to demolish part of the building after a fire significantly damaged it earlier this year.

The company applied for an "exploratory" demolition permit, meaning crews would likely take down part of the building in Louisville's Gardiner Lane neighborhood to see how much of it was damaged by the fire May 21.

Forty firefighters arrived on the scene one of Louisville's oldest donut shops just north of Interstate 64 in three minutes and were able to get the fire under control in about 15 minutes, leaving heavy damage to the roof and attic.

Michael Moore, 40, was eventually charged with first-degree arson and first-degree wanton endangerment. Louisville Fire Department officials said the fire was started using an "incendiary device thrown onto the building." It was a plastic bottle, firefighters said, but they haven't said what was in it.

Moore's bond was set at $100,000.
