LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville organization is hosting a wellness experience that's also promoting local businesses this week.

The Somebody Society is holding its second annual "Self Love Experience" at Valaterra Retreat and Wellness Center in La Grange on Saturday, Sept. 7. The event will focus on introducing new and local practices that can benefit a person's body and mind, along with connecting people to their community.

The event will feature fireside drumming sessions, a guided spiritual meditation, mindful hike and a creekside meditation, according to event organizers.

"A lot people don't get the opportunity to walk down to a creekside, take a quick self-compassion meditation or check out the fairy tunnels out there, drum circles, things like that," said Lexie DeLain, founder of the Somebody Society. "People don't get a lot of opportunities to do this in day-to-day life so we want to give those opportunities. We want to tell people that it's okay to take a self-health day."

The event coincides with Valaterra Retreat and Wellness Center's 10th anniversary. Local wellness businesses and vendors will be featured at the event.

"We love helping and supporting local businesses because a lot of people start small and have this big dream," DeLain said. "This is one of those events we try to bring in as many people as possible. There are a lot of start ups, there are a lot of new people expressing themselves at this event for the first time. We want to give them opportunities to meet new clients and customers."
