LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A famous New York City bakery is now open in Louisville.

The ribbon was cut Tuesday on Magnolia Bakery's location on East Market Street in NuLu's Zen 620 development.

The bakery is known for its red velvet cupcakes and "world famous" banana bread pudding.

The Louisville location is the bakery's second franchised location in the nation. The owner of the shop chose NuLu because it's one of her favorite parts of the city.

"It feels so special to open up something I loved in New York, and to be able to bring it back to my hometown, really just feels really special," Alex Nessenthalar said.

Founded in 1996 in New York, the bakery was featured in hit shows like "Sex and the City," "Saturday Night Live" and "Spin City." It was also shown in the movie "The Devil Wears Prada."
