LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Medical marijuana dispensaries are set to open in Louisville and Frankfort this week.

Frankfort's first dispensary, nuEra, opens Wednesday on Leonardwood Drive. The dispensary said qualifying patients can get medical cannabis starting at 11 a.m.

Kentucky Alternative Care will host a grand opening on Saturday in the Highlands.

It's scheduled for 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Bardstown Road near Wrocklage Avenue across the street from Kroger.

Kentucky's medical cannabis law went into effect over a year ago and thousands of medical cards have been issued.
