LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- Downtown Louisville's newest hotel, a Hilton Garden Inn, is getting ready to open in the heart of the city. But eight stories above Fourth and Chestnut Streets is Louisville's newest attraction -- with great views of the city.

It's a rooftop bar and it's part of the 162 room hotel, the latest project for Louisville architect and developer Bill Weyland.

The Hilton Garden is a little bit unique in that the outdoor and indoor bars, the restaurants and the meeting rooms are on the top floor that offer those great views.

"We got with Hilton and they allowed us to take what is normally the food service on the first floor and flip it to the roof," explains Weyland.

The new hotel is tied in with the Henry Clay apartment building at the other end of the block, another one of Weyland's redevelopment projects from a few years ago.

Weyland believes there is great demand for new hotel rooms downtown.

"As we fill in a couple of additional hotels," he says, "we will have the right mix that is going to make us more attractive as a convention town which is a big part of our business.

The temporary construction fence around the hotel will be taken down this weekend with the hotel set to open in mid-November.
