LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Publix is expanding in Kentucky.

The grocery chain announced Thursday a new location is coming to Shelbyville.

The 50,325-square-foot store is planned for Saddlebred Point at the northwest corner of Freedoms Way and The Point Boulevard. That's off Highway 60. It will employee about 140 people.

Currently, there are three Publix locations in Kentucky, all of them in east Louisville: 2500 Terra Crossings Boulevard, 10005 Ballardsville Road, and 150 Flat Rock Road.

There is no timeframe on the opening of the Shelbyville location.

The news comes during speculation of a possible Publix store coming to the planned Mid City Mall revitalization.
