LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A popular Asian-inspired fried chicken restaurant in Louisville's Butchertown neighborhood will close its doors this week.

Chik'n & Mi announced on social media Tuesday that the restaurant will permanently close Saturday, Feb. 28.

"Unfortunately, the path forward is no longer sustainable and we must move on," the owners said in a statement.

The restaurant opened in 2017 on Mellwood Avenue and features Asian-inspired fried chicken dishes and noodles.

According to the owners, the closing comes due to rising food costs, inflated operational expenses and the lasting financial impact from the pandemic.

The plan was to keep the restaurant open, but after restructuring and reinvesting the owners said it still wasn't possible to "overcome the financial obligations that accumulated during that time."

The restaurant will have an all-day dinner service from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
