LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Value City Furniture is getting ready to close several stores in Kentucky and Indiana.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, in Louisville, stores located at 9070 Dixie Highway, 3426 Preston Highway and 4623 Shelbyville Road as well as the Clarksville, Indiana, location at 945 Lewis and Clark Parkway will close.
Two stores in Lexington and one store in Florence are also expected to close. Liquidation for a total of 89 stores nationwide could start as early as this weekend, Business First reports.
The closure comes after an auction for American Signature Inc., which operates Value City Furniture, was canceled when there were no qualifying bids to acquire the struggling furniture retailer. American Signature filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November.
With no bidders, the business is set for a $147.8 million acquisition by ASI Purchaser LLC.
A hearing to approve the final sale is scheduled for Feb. 4.
