LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A western Kentucky woman won $50,000 on a $30 Kentucky Lottery Ca$h scratch-off ticket after her son encouraged her to buy the ticket.

She kept the winning ticket under her pillow the night before claiming the prize.

According to a news release, her son spotted the ticket at Pal’s in Oak Grove in Christian County and convinced her to play.

"She scratched it off in the store and the first number popped up. We both got a little nervous," he said.

Scanning the ticket revealed they had won the top prize.

"I could have fainted," she said. "I have hip and back problems, but I think I jumped and did a little dance."

The family plans to use some of the money for their grandchildren’s college costs and to help fund a church van.
