LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Children got plenty of tricks and treats at an annual Halloween event in St. Matthews on Saturday.

The city of St. Matthews and the Chamber of St. Matthews hosted Halloween in Brown Park. The event that has been held for more than 20 years gives children the chance to trick-or-treat for free.

There were more than 40 businesses at the park handing out candy to children. While candy was handed out, vendors also gave out non-food treats in case some children suffer from food allergies.

"A lot of them are excited to get back in the woods, do a little trick or treating, maybe bypass the family cemetery that is deep inside Brown Park," Josh Suiter, with the Chamber of St. Matthews, said. "They just love the thrill of having somewhere safe and fun where they can be kids and enjoy the holiday."

The event had music, inflatables, games and concessions.
