LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man died Friday morning when he crashed his motorcycle into a retaining wall in Spaghetti Junction near downtown Louisville.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later identified the man as Leonardo Padua Coayo, 26.

The crash happened just after 11 a.m., in the junction from the ramp off Interstate 65 North to Interstate 64 East to Interstate 71 North, according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police. Witnesses told investigators the motorcycle was "traveling at a high rate of speed" when the man driving lost control and crashed into a retaining wall.

He died at the scene, according to police, who said he was wearing a helmet.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is handling the investigation. It could take several hours to clear the scene, so drivers who normally take that route should plan to detour.
