LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Three people were arrested for trying to smuggle drugs into the Scott County Jail.

In November 2023, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office staff discovered fentanyl and meth that had been mailed to the office for inmates at the jail.

A 3-month-long investigation lead to charges against three people from Louisville.

Police said Kayla Burns, 28, mailed the drugs to Bruce Craig, 33, and Charles Dexter, 44, who both were housed at the jail.

The letters had a return address as sent by different lawyers, which, according to protocol, is not allowed to be searched by jail personnel.

All three are facing drug dealing charges and Burns is now in the Scott County Jail.
