BB gun found in backpack of Stuart Middle School student early Monday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A student at Stuart Middle School will be disciplined after allegedly bringing a BB gun to school Monday morning. 

According to a message sent to parents, a student notified school officials another student may have brought a weapon to school. Officials then called JCPS Police and increased security within the building.

"During the investigation, a BB gun was found in the student’s backpack," the district said. "... the BB gun was never used in a threatening manner." 

JCPS said the student will be disciplined "in accordance with the Student Support and Behavior Intervention Handbook."
