LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People in Kentucky are dealing with fake arrest warrant scams, according to state officials.

Scammers are using fake arrest warrants that have forged signatures of court personnel and law enforcement officers. Kentucky's Administrative Office of the Courts reports scammers are sending fraudulent warrants, demanding payment to avoid arrest. Those scams are becoming more sophisticated.

The fraudulent warrants could display a Kentucky Court of Justice seal, a case number and list of various charges like failure to appear and missed jury duty.

According to a news release Monday, the scams typically instruct people to call a number to get a settlement, provide personal information, wire money or provide gift card numbers.

Scammers might use a fake phone number on caller ID that appears to be a government agency.
