LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An armed man was on the run Thursday evening after fighting with police, speeding away on Interstate 65 in Hardin County and then running into a cornfield.
According to a Kentucky State Police Elizabethtown post dispatch, a trooper stopped a car near the 61 mile marker on I-65 North in Hardin County. At some point during the stop, the driver and trooper got in a fight. The driver then got back into his car and sped away.
Chris Denham, a spokesperson for the Elizabethtown Police Department, said Elizabethtown Police were asked to assist in a pursuit up the interstate.
The pursuit ended with a crash at the 85 mile marker near the Glendale exit in Hardin County. The driver then got out of the car and ran into a nearby cornfield.
As of 5:15 p.m., KSP dispatch said police vehicles were stopped along a long stretch of the interstate, officers standing with guns drawn while others search for the man in the area east of I-65 along U.S. 31 West.
KSP dispatch said shortly after 7 p.m. the suspect had been found.
BlueOval SK plant spokesperson Mallory Cooke said they "have secured our facilities based on information provided by local authorities."
