LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 29-year-old man is charged with attempted murder in connection to a shooting June 21 outside a stretch of popular bars on Bardstown Road.

Louisville Metro Police said DaJohn Roberts was arrested Friday in connection the shooting around 2:30 a.m. June 21. Officers found a 29-year-old man shot in the leg in the 1100 block of Bardstown Road. He was also taken to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the arrest citation, witnesses told police a "short male" came up behind the victim, pointed a handgun at his head and fired. However, the gun failed to fire, at which point the victim ran. But police said Roberts chased after the victim and fired additional shots, one of which hit him in the upper thigh.

LMPD said the shooting — as well as another non-fatal shooting an hour later — happened after fighting began near The Hub and Atomic, two businesses on Bardstown Road just south of Grinstead Drive. In total, police said they arrested 15 people that night, including four juveniles, and seized four guns.

Days later, Louisville Metro ABC suspended the alcoholic beverage license of Atomic. The Emergency Suspension Order took effect immediately and halts alcohol sales at the business while the case moves through the administrative process.
