LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A convicted felon illegally possessing a firearm while driving under the influence was arrested on Interstate 64, according to Indiana State Police.
ISP said a trooper patrolling I-64 in Spencer County stopped the driver of a gray Jeep that was driving 97 mph in a 70 mph zone. David S. Yates, 39, was driving the Jeep.
According to police, Yates showed signs of being impaired and failed field sobriety tests. He became uncooperative and refused a chemical test.Â
ISP troopers found a a 9mm handgun, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and open alcoholic beverage containers, according to police. The Louisville man was taken to Spencer County jail.
Yates was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, obstruction, possession of marijuana and reckless driving, among other charges.
