LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville police arrested a man who's accused of participating in a street racing competition on River Road downtown earlier this month.
Mauricio Gutierrez, 19, is accused of participating in the competition with numerous other vehicles who blocked the road at 2nd Street and River Road as well as other locations on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
Louisville Metro Police said the racers would then take turns doing donuts and burnouts close to spectators. Gutierrez reportedly drove while a passenger hung out the window.
"(Gutierrez) participated in multiple street takeovers, creating a substantial public disturbance and enticing a crowd to (behave) in a reckless manner," his arrest citation says.
LMPD said he was caught on social media posts, cellphone videos and crime center cameras. He faces charges including wanton endangerment, racing, riot and disorderly conduct.
Someone was shot during the street takeover at River Road and 2nd Street, police said.
