LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville woman was arrested this week after she allegedly set an apartment on fire after an argument with her partner.

Kayla Beeler, 30, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree arson and criminal mischief, along with eight counts of wanton endangerment.

The fire was reported around 5 p.m. Wednesday at an east end apartment on Accomack Drive, near the Fincastle neighborhood. Police said it caused $20,000 dollars in damages.

According to the arrest citation, Beeler and her partner were in an argument moments before the fire started. Police said Beeler's partner asked her to leave, and that's when she threatened to burn the apartment down.

A short time later, her partner noticed the smoke and flames. He tried to put the fire out himself, the citation said, but the fire department was eventually needed to extinguish it.

Police said the fire was at risk of spreading to five other buildings with multiple people inside.

Beeler was arrested near the scene shortly after. She appeared in Jefferson County District Court Friday, where Judge Anne Delahanty set her bond at $50,000.
