LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three men were taken into custody Tuesday after a search warrant revealed a major animal abuse case.

According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Matthew Sanders, officers executed the warrant at a home in the 2500 block of Rowan Street in Louisville's Portland neighborhood. Police got a tip and showed up at the house to investigate spice trafficking but, upon arriving at the home, found 19 dogs living in "extremely poor conditions."

The dogs showed signs of severe flea infestations, visible tumors and signs of malnourishment. Sanders said animal care specialists immediately responded to the scene to provide assistance.

Police arrested Tymane Harris, 49, Lamont Harris, 59, and Diajion Barnett, 32. Tymane Harris is charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty in addition to facing drug trafficking and gun charges.

Lamont Harris is charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and Diajion Barnett is charged with tampering with physical evidence.

Some of the dogs were taken to Louisville Metro Animal Services. The three men pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday morning.
