LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A shooting near Churchill Downs on Monday morning led to a car crash 2 miles away and a woman recovering at the hospital.
Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said officers responded to the 3200 block of Utah Avenue around 7 a.m. Monday on the report of a shooting. They didn't find a victim there but then heard a woman was transported by private vehicle to UofL Hospital.
Amid their investigation, Mitchell said officers were then notified that the car that transported the victim to the hospital crashed 2 miles away at 7th and Magnolia streets near Old Louisville.
The LMPD Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is investigating. Anyone with any information related to the shooting is asked to call LMPD's anonymous tip line at 502-574-5673.
