LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Tennessee man was charged with kidnapping after police say he took a child he does not have custody of to southern Indiana.
Clarksville police said officers were called Tuesday morning about a 4-year-old who was taken out of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and was possibly in the southern Indiana area.Â
Police said 23-year-old Skyler Clubb took the child out of state without the permission of the mother, who has custody of the child.
The child was entered into the National Crime Information Center database as missing. Police said Clubb "refused to bring the child back to Tennessee," and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police later found a vehicle "associated with" Clubb and took him into custody on a felony kidnapping warrant through Tennesee, while the child was "safely recovered."Â
Clarksville Police Chief Nate Walls said it was a case that required officers to "act quickly."
"Our officers did an outstanding job locating this individual, and getting him into custody while simultaneously keeping the child safe," Walls said in a news release Wednesday.
Clubb is being held at the Clark County Jail, awaiting extradition back to Tennessee.
