LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police are looking for a suspect after a woman was shot during an attempted robbery in the Chickasaw neighborhood Sunday evening.
Matthew Sanders, a spokesman for Louisville Metro Police, said officers responded to a reported shooting in the 900 block of S. 45th Street just before 6:30 p.m.
That's where police found a woman who had been shot in the arm. The victim said she was with another woman when they met up with an unidentified man to sell buy some merchandise.
The male then pulled out a handgun and attempted to rob them. The women sped off but the suspect fired a single shot, hitting the victim in her arm.
She was taken to UofL Hospital and is "expected to make a full recovery."
"Our Non-Fatal Shooting Squad remains busy this weekend, adding this incident to their case load," Sanders said.
Police said the shooting actually happened in the 4200 block of Greenwood Avenue and the woman fled nearby.
The suspect is described as a Black man, 5-foot-8-inches with a thin build and was last seen wearing a turquoise hoodie and black pants in the area of 42nd and Greenwood Avenue.
Police are urging people to meet at the four MetroSWAP locations that are under 24-hour surveillance if you feel the interaction might not be safe.
