LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Daily lane closures started Monday on Bardstown Road in Louisville.
Crews will shut down lanes from Taylorsville Road to Bonnycastle Avenue through December.
The closures will happen between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Daily and nightly street parking restrictions are also possible.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, crews will be adding new thermoplastic striping and markings to the road that will be more visible at night and in wet weather.
KYTC said the thermoplastic striping "provides long-lasting, reflective markings."
The new markings are expected to help with on-street parking by defining spaces, and traffic flow with improved lane configurations.
The work is expected to last through December, though a specific end date was not provided.
KYTC said a 2018 planning study on Bardstown Road safety identified the corridor between Taylorsville Road and Bonnycastle Avenue as "having one of the highest concentrations of pedestrian crashes in the city."
