LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Residents of a rural road in Bullitt County were urged Saturday to evacuate their homes after heavy rain caused a dam to fail at a nearby lake.
The Bullitt County Emergency Management Agency said residents of Cedar Spring Drive, off Old Boston Road in Lebanon Junction, "need to evacuate immediately" due to a "moderate dam failure" at the Rod and Gun Club just north of them.
An update was provided around 5 p.m. from emergency officials that a portion of the embankment experienced a landslide, but the dam was holding and there was no indication of an imminent failure at the time.

Out of an abundance of caution, evacuations were being conducted by Bullitt County Emergency Management officials in the event of conditions changing.
Residents of Cedar Springs Drive were urged to:
Evacuate immediately
Move to higher ground
Avoid flooded roads and low-lying areas
Do not attempt to drive through water
Follow instructions from emergency personnel
Check on neighbors only if it is safe to do so
Lebanon Junction Mayor Larry D. Dangerfield said the Dennie Memorial Methodist Church at 132 Brook Street is open for any residents who have been displaced from the flooding.
Bullitt County Emergency Management said they are actively monitoring the situation with emergency responders and if additional evacuations become necessary, residents will be notified immediately.
