LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Some Jefferson County Public Schools students got into the holiday spirit on Wednesday by making holiday cards for heroes.
Fourth graders at Blue Lick Elementary School crafted cards and letters of appreciation for veterans as part of the nationwide Holiday Cards For Heroes campaign.
The cards will be given out at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville.
"We wrote about veterans and made a letter for them, and we talked about like thanking them for like what they did for us and wishing them a happy holidays and just thanking them for risking their lives for us to give us freedom," Matthew Middletown, fourth grader, said.
Congressman Morgan McGarvey also stopped by the school to pick up the cards and thank the students for their generosity.
