LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Elizabethtown Independent Schools is stepping up safety with a new weapons detection system
After winter break, students will walk through the CEIA Opengate system, the same technology used at airports and stadiums.
Students will need to remove items such as Chromebooks and metal lunch boxes from their backpacks before walking through the detectors.
They also emphasized that it’s just one part of a layered approach to safety, which includes prevention strategies, strong relationships, and other security measures.
