LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new, school-based health center is now open at Iroquois High School in Louisville.
Officials from Jefferson County Public Schools and Family Health Center held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the school Wednesday morning.
Family Health Center is operating the clinic, which will serve students, staff and their families. It will offer wellness visits, sports physicals, immunizations and sick visits, as well as an on-site lab.
Students can walk down to the clinic and present their insurance if they have it. If they don't have insurance, the clinic will still take care of them. The clinic will also make sure it has consent from parents.
Clinic leaders said kids won't succeed academically if health conditions impacting their ability to learn aren't addressed.Â
JCPS has seven school-based health centers across the district.
