Kids eating school lunch

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Families across Kentucky can get some help feeding their kids this summer, thanks to a statewide program aimed at reducing food insecurity.

Once again, the Kentucky Department of Education is participating in the national Summer Food Service Program, also called Sun Meals, offering free meals for children during the summer.

Kids 18 and under in low-income areas can receive meals at no cost from late May through August.

More than 2,000 meal sites will be set up throughout Kentucky. Most locations require meals to be eaten on-site, though some rural areas may offer to go options.

Indiana is also participating in the national program.
