LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A new, all-girls school broke ground on Wednesday in Louisville's west end.

The West End School, a tuition-free private school located in Louisville's Chickasaw neighborhood, currently serves 140 boys.

Wednesday, administration and community leaders broke ground on The West End Girls School. The school plans to welcome 150 girls by August 2025.

The school will start with pre-K, Kindergarten, first and second grade and then add a new grade each year.

"We have literally the possibility to change not only the trajectory of our students but this community so us being able to the young ladies of this community is truly going to change Louisville," Dr. Greg Ross, The West End School's Head of School, said.

The school is hosting an online bourbon raffle with 22 lots of hard-to-find and ultra-rare bourbon to raise $2 million for the new girls facility. Tickets are $100. A live drawing will take place on June 20, 2024 at 11 a.m.
