ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- Highland Sod Farms in Elizabethtown is in the midst of transforming into country music festival grounds.

The farm's owner, Jimmy Jenkins, is trading the crops for country music this Labor Day weekend.

"We're, you know, of course, just in the sod business and and right now we've, we've harvested all the sod off this farm, pretty much, other than a little dab," he said.

Highland Sod Farms has been supplying premium sod to Elizabethtown, Louisville, Bowling Green, and northern Nashville for 40 years, growing Tall Fescue and Kentucky Bluegrass.

But before Jenkins and his crew seed for the next harvest, they're hoping for some fun.

"When we were young, we would have a field party or something, and always thought it was a lot of fun just to go out and hang out with some friends and in the field and just enjoy yourself," Jenkins said. "So, I always thought, you know, if you can community to have a field party, it'd be a lot of fun."

The first ever Highland Farms Country Fest is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 29, and Saturday, Aug. 30.

Brantley Gilbert will headline Saturday and Sam Hunt on Friday. Other artists attending include Tyler Hubbard, Mitchell Tenpenny, Tucker Wetmore, Ashley Cooke, and The Marshall Tucker Band.

There are several levels of tickets offered, including General Admission, General Admission Plus and VIP. Camping options are unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, but parking is free. Use Promo Code SUMMER for 10% off General Admission and Single and 2-Day passes.

"We felt like we were awful blessed to be able to have the opportunity to have this piece of property, and thought with that, we'd like to share it with other people," Jenkins said.
