LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Local EMS workers are getting special training to help them give the best care possible in an emergency situation.

Norton Children's and Norton Healthcare are partnering with HealthForce Kentucky for three days of emergency training using HealthForce Kentucky's Mobile Simulation Lab.

Norton Children's Transport Team guided over 100 medical professionals through hands-on training sessions that mimic real life emergency situations using high-tech simulation mannequins.

"The importance of this program is that we are making outreach opportunities available to people in rural Kentucky," Bruce Williams, HealthForce Kentucky president, said. "We can park in any part of the state and provide equal training for those in the areas and also the rural areas. Our focus is trying to get people interested in joining health care careers."

Wednesday's training took place at the Norton Children's Transport Hangar at Bowman Field in Louisville.
