LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Crews blasted the final 600-foot section of the Milton-Madison Bridge into the Ohio River on Thursday morning.
This span of the bridge, like the other three pieces, will be retrieved from the river, taken apart and sold for scrap.
The new bridge is already being used by drivers, but on temporary piers. Now that all of the old bridge has been blasted out of the way, crews will improve and widen the old piers.
The new bridge will be slid into place on the old, renovated piers later this year.
