LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A huge cloud of smoke could be seen from New Albany Friday evening as firefighters battled a house fire.
The fire was reported in a home near Vincennes and Oak streets in New Albany around 5:30 p.m. New Albany Fire Department officials say no one was inside the home at the time and no one was injured in the fire.
The flames made the roof collapse and left the floor unstable. Several homes in the area lost power as firefighters worked to put out the flames.
"It was so dark. It was a very eerie feeling. I even said to my family, 'this feels like a purge movie,'" New Albany resident John Shepherd said.
Firefighters are still working to figure out what caused the fire. They say the building will be bulldozed tonight.
