LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A former employee of Louisville Metro Animal Services is no longer employed with the agency after being cited for animal neglect.
Citations were issued on two separate days earlier this month for two senior Cocker Spaniels in the care of former LMAS employee Katherine Laird, who was formerly identified on the LMAS website as an executive administrator.
According to her citation, on Sept. 7, one of the elderly dogs in her care was found loose and severely matted. Laird claimed ownership of the dog and said there wasn't a grooming appointment scheduled nor had the dog been to the veterinarian since the dog had been in her care.
On Sept. 9, another elderly dog was found, also with severe matting and was not licensed. According to citation, Laird was issued a grooming notice to have the dog groomed within a week.
A spokesperson for LMAS said the dogs were returned to Pearl's Paws Rescue. The spokesperson also said Laird was no longer employed by LMAS as of Sept. 10.
