LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Funeral arrangements were announced Thursday for former Kentucky Gov. Martha Layne Collins.

Visitation starts at noon Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Old State Capitol in Frankfort. The funeral service will follow.

Collins served as Kentucky's 56th Governor from 1983-87. She was Kentucky's first and only female governor. She brought the Toyota's U.S. manufacturing plant to the state. Kentucky had won a bidding war against other states for the plant, which at the time cost $800 million and employed 2,500 people to assemble Camry sedans.

Flags in all state office buildings will remain lowered to half-staff until sunset on the day of her funeral.

Collins was 88 years old.
