LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new center that helps children get a head start on education was dedicated on Tuesday. JCPS and community leaders gathered to dedicate the George Unseld Early Childhood Learning Center.
Unseld was a former JCPS administrator and Metro Councilman, and the JCPS board voted to name the center after him. The facility is home to nearly 400 early childhood students in 19 preschool and Head Start classrooms.
JCPS Board Vice Chair Carol Haddad said, "It's important they are ready for school, some come in not ready, always behind -- (they need an) even playing field so they can get a good education and be ready for college and careers."
Superintendent Donna Hargens also used this event to remind parents to actively prepare their children for kindergarten.
