Hillary Clinton visits Louisville, touts Grimes as answer for Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hillary Clinton visited Louisville Wednesday night to speak at the Kentucky International Convention Center as a part of Alison Lundergan Grimes's U.S. Senate campaign.

Bill Clinton has made three appearances in Kentucky for Grimes, but this was Hillary's first. The hall was decorated to resemble a presidential nominating convention.

The former Secretary of State took the stage to promote Grimes and her ability to solve problems and bring people together in Kentucky.

"I am back for one reason, and that is because Kentucky deserves a change in Washington," she said.

Clinton spoke about the need to bring jobs to Kentucky and to raise the minimum wage, hailing this election in Kentucky as a referendum on the future. She also praised Governor Steve Beshear for expanding affordable health care in the state.

"It is a chance to say no to the guardians of gridlock and yes to a government that actually delivers results for working people, the way your Democratic governor has in this state," she said.

Clinton continued to say that raising the minimum wage would most help women. "Don't you think they need a little understanding and support, don't you think they deserve a senator who will fight to give them the boost they need?" she said.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, Congressman John Yarmuth and Attorney General Jack Conway all spoke before Grimes and Clinton each took the stage.
