INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- An Indianapolis man traced to a teenage girl's unsolved 1989 slaying by a palm print found at the crime scene has agreed to plead guilty to rape and murder in her killing.
Marion Superior Court records show Rodney Denk would serve a 65-year sentence under his plea agreement.
He's scheduled to be sentenced Friday in the killing of 16-year-old Amy Weidner.
Investigators obtained a palm print from a wall after the honors student was found beaten, sexually assaulted and strangled in her Indianapolis home in November 1989.
Denk was arrested last year after the unsolved case was reopened and that print was matched to him.
The Indianapolis Star reports prosecutors say Denk was a friend of Weidner's brother and had visited the family's home several times.
