LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Jefferson County Public Schools bus driver is planning to resign and is seeking legal action after she said a student shot at her.
Elizabeth Frashure said she was shot in the face with a rubber pellet on Monday. After the incident, she decided to take out a protective order.
"I'm not going to continue," Frashure said.
Instead of driving bus routes on Tuesday, Frashure started at the Hall of Justice.
"I am here to take out a warrant on the student that actually did it," Frashure said. "I was dropping children off at a stop, and I was shot with an airsoft gun multiple times."
Frashure said on Monday she was dropping off students at one of her stops when a child from another school shot her with an airsoft gun.
"I told him at the stop, 'Don't shoot that at me,'" Frashure said. "I let him know. I saw it. I said 'Don't shoot that at me.' And then he proceeded to do it anyway."
Frashure said incidents like this have been going on for two years. She has reported the incidents, but nothing has happened.
"I am going to formally resign from JCPS," Frashure said.
John Stovall, president of the union that represents JCPS bus drivers, said safety concerns have been an issues for years.
"Each year it has gotten progressively worse," Stovall said. "It's not every single bus, but it's enough that it's causing a problem.
Stovall raised concerns several years ago about behavior on school buses.
"I don't want to say they swept it under the rug, but a lot of people chose not to acknowledge it or didn't think it was that bad because they're not on the bus," he said. "They don't see what's going on."
Frasure said the lack of action by transportation officials led to her latest decision.
A spokesperson for JCPS said the transportation department is investigating the incident. Frashure said she plans to submit her letter of resignation on Wednesday.
