LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Some Jefferson County Public Schools students will be going home with snack bags ahead of spring break.

The Jefferson County Clerk's Office and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office packed over 1,500 snack bags Thursday morning to be delivered to JCPS schools.

The snack kits went to seven schools in the district and to the West End School to support underserved students in the community while they're out of school for the week.

The bags were packed with a variety of snacks including granola, crackers and apple juice.

"It is rewarding just to see the smiles on their faces when they get their colorful bags and the items that are in the bags, it means a lot," said Maj. Vernon Brown, of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Community Services Division.

JCPS' spring break is April 6 through April 10.
