LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- A judge will now decide if Cahoots will lose its liquor license.
A hearing took place Tuesday afternoon and both sides of the argument called witnesses. Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control wants the court to suspend Cahoots' alcohol license for 36 days.
Nearby business owners and Highlands residents say fights and drug activity are frequent problems at Cahoots.
Metro ABC says Cahoots hasn't held up its end up an agreement to hire off duty officers on the weekends. But Thomas Clay, who represents Cahoots, says management there is doing everything they can to keep things under control.
“This is not the first strike or the second strike. It's the third and that dovetails the motion to revoke," said Larry Osterhage, Assistant Commonwealth Attorney.
"I don't think it's any surprise that patrons are going to try and go in a bar whether it's cahoots or some other bar and perhaps consume marijuana. I know there's a prohibition against that but it's very difficult for a business owner to pat everybody down to ensure that no one has any marijuana or any other kind of contraband,” said Thomas Clay.
Judge Pete Karem says he doesn't know when he'll make a decision.
