LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Kentucky-based Shady Rays opened its new headquarters in Simpsonville.

The sunglasses company is the first tenant in the new Simpsonville Commons, a business park across the road from The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass.

The new location will serve as the company's headquarters for its 63 employees.

2,000 additional jobs will be brought to the area once the site is complete.

“Oh I am thrilled at the growth of Shady Rays," Gov. Andy Beshear said. "This is one of those products where we can be known around the country and around the world. The two brothers can have an idea supported by their parents that turns into a major employer like this. That's a pretty neat story and I hope that encourages others."

Simpsonville Commons features more than 1.5 million square feet of development with an investment of more than $250 million. Simpsonville Commons was developed by Louisville-based commercial real estate firm Hollenbach Oakley.
