LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Kentucky State Police have a new patrol boat to help troopers respond to emergencies on the water.
The 23-foot Metal Shark 23 Relentless is designed specifically for first responders and was purchased with funding from FEMA's Port Security Program.
KSP said the boat will be used for severe weather emergencies, search-and-rescue missions and security during large events such as Thunder Over Louisville.
The boat has many of the same tools found in a state police cruiser, giving troopers what they need to respond on the water.
