LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Kentucky whiskey brand dating back to the 1800s has a new owner.
Chicken Cock Whiskey was sold to Raleigh, North Carolina-based New Century Spirits, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
The brand was first produced at a distillery in Paris, Kentucky, in 1856. Matti Anttila, founder and CEO of Charleston, South Carolina-based Grain & Barrel Spirits, brought it back in 2012.
The deal also includes Dixie Southern Vodka, Elvis Whiskey and E.G. Booz whiskey. The terms were not disclosed.
Chicken Cock has tasting rooms in Louisville's NuLu neighborhood and Bardstown.
The Louisville location, which opened in 2025 at 821 E. Market St., includes a speakeasy-style space called The Coupe.
Employees at both tasting rooms are expected to keep their jobs, LBF reported. Anttila will join New Century Spirits' board.
New Century Spirits CEO Anthony Moniello said the company plans to build on Chicken Cock's history and presence in Kentucky.
