LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Metro Police Department is expected to release the body camera footage of the moment officers shot a man they said refused to drop a gun.
The footage is set to be released during an afternoon news conference on Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting happened Oct. 24 near 26th Street and Garland Avenue in west Louisville. At the time, LMPD Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said officers had responded to a ShotSpotter alert just before 3:28 a.m.Â
When police arrived, they heard more gunshots and saw a man climbing out of a window with a gun. Police said the suspect took off, and officers chased him down ordering him to drop his gun.
Police said the man "didn't comply" and officers "discharged their weapons, striking the subject several times."
The suspect was taken to UofL Hospital in critical condition. His current condition is unknown.
Gwinn-Villaroel said the body camera footage would be released within 10 days of the shooting. Tuesday will be the 10th day.
