LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville Metro park in eastern Jefferson County will undergo $500,000 in improvements this summer.

Renovations have already started at Long Run Park, a 400-acre park, this spring. The restroom building and basketball court were closed starting the first week of April.

According to a news release Tuesday, the restroom building was built in 1974. It's next to the playground, tennis, pickleball and basketball courts. The restrooms will get updated accessories and pathways to make it more accessible.

During the renovation work on the restrooms, two port-o-lets will be open to the public.

The basketball court will also undergo construction. The $485,000 project is expected to be completed by this fall.

"Renovations to the Long Run Park’s restrooms and basketball court are long overdue," Paul Adams, assistant director of engineering and planning for Louisville Parks and Recreation, said in a news release. "We’re grateful for these funds because it helps update park amenities for park visitors."

The playground, spray pad, tennis and pickleball courts will remain open during the renovations.
